Hadlee Hoeksema participates in teacher cadet

As Hadlee Hoeksema goes through high school, she has decided on a career choice of being a teacher. When her junior year was coming to an end in 2011-2012, it was time for her to pick her senior schedule.

Hoeksema saw that there was a Teacher Cadet Education for Employment class that would be great for her.

Hoeksema is taught by Denise Rice on Mondays and Tuesdays each week. Students from other schools take the same EFE class and learn what to do in the classroom. On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, Hoeksema goes to the Ryan Intermediate to help out with Gay Fournier’s fourth grade class. Hoeksema leaves Gull Lake High School during 5th block on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

“I love meeting all the kids and getting to know them better,” Hoeksema said. “I really like helping the little kids do classroom activities.”

On Tuesday, November 13 the EFE class is traveling to Western Michigan University College of Education to listen to a speaker talk about teaching. This is a great opportunity for the class.
Hadlee Hoeksema is honored to be able to take this class and it better prepares her for her life as a teacher later on.
