Recently, a steady stream of Microsoft and Apple advertisements displaying top notch tablet technology have poured into TVs all across the country.
Microsoft is busy pushing for their new Surface while Apple is busy introducing the world to the iPad Mini. This is one of Microsoft’s first ventures into the tablet market while Apple has been at it for years.
The most popular Microsoft Surface commercial is easily recognized by the catchy beat that is made by the clicking of the tablet into its portable keyboard. They present their tablet as being colorful, fun and full of energetic life with lots of motion. Although Microsoft doesn’t have as clear an image as Apple, their ad is new and fresh.
Apple, on the other hand, has had no break in tradition. They present the new iPad Mini the same way they’ve presented almost every product since they began using touch-screen technology. Their advertisements feature some kind of song, a hand model using the new product and a creamy white background. They always present each new product as if it’s god himself using the iPad in the commercial and the white background is heaven, and he’s getting ready to ship this gift off down to earth.
In the end, people will generally stay true to their roots. Fans of Microsoft will most likely purchase the Surface while Applites will purchase the iPad Mini. The ads are almost irrelevant in influencing people to buy one way or the other. In each line of ads, there is rarely a mention of new features and primarily relies on the name “Apple” or “Microsoft” to pique the interest of viewers.
