Do you know this man? Who knew Newt

Students in the hallway were asked if they knew this man, Republican presidential hopeful, Newt Gingrich. Photo courtesy of Don Irvine Creative Commons

Newt Gingrich is among the four remaining Republicans running for president, alongside Mitt Romney, Rick Santorum and Ron Paul. Gingrich is the elder statesman of the group and a former Speaker of the House.

Gingrich is known for being a social conservative and hard right on economic matters. Gingrich has recently come under fire for his comments about impoverished people, his proposal of a Moon colony, his three marriages and his affairs

Gingrich is an important political player, and we wondered how many students actually knew who this man was. Many seniors will be available to vote in the upcoming election, so just how informed are they? We had a success rate of lower than 30%, as very few kids knew who the candidate was.

There were many funny guesses as to who Gingrich was. The people guessed included: Donald Trump, presidential candidate Ron Paul, the guy from Cheaper By the Dozen, Senate Democrat Harry Reid, Rush Limbaugh, Newt Romney, the guy from Pink Panther, Mitt Romney and John McCain.
