October provides Kalamazoo with a diverse range of concerts

upcoming concerts2The start of October kicks off another month of music in downtown Kalamazoo.  In a single weekend, the residents of the city will have the opportunity to listen to three unique musical performances.

Dave Menzo and Friends, October 2

Dave Menzo will perform on Friday, October 2 at the Kalamazoo Valley Museum as an extension of the locally celebrated Art Hop. Menzo incorporates elements of folk, soul, and pop music to form his own unique style that draws listeners from a variety of demographics. This free concert serves as the first of several to appear in Kalamazoo this October.

Highway to Hell, October 3

The AC/DC tribute band, Highway to Hell plays  the following evening at the Kalamazoo State Theatera must see for anyone dedicated to famous Australian rock group. The members of Highway to Hell imitate AC/DC’s own performing style and make it their goal to look and sound as similar to the band as possible. Admission to this event is 25 dollars a ticket.

Beethoven Lives Upstairs, October 4

The weekend closes with Classical Kid’s Beethoven Lives Upstairs at Chenery Auditorium. Combining aspects of theater with a variety of Beethoven’s masterpieces, this concert tells the story of a young boy who learns the love of music from his new upstairs neighbor, Beethoven himself. A relatively inexpensive event, costing twelve dollars for adults and six for children, The classical performance lasts approximately 50 minutes.
