As of January 20 2016, information for a new trip that members of the Model UN will take has been released. This trip will take place during spring break of 2017 and will include the members of the club going to India. The group will be in Delhi at the start of the trip and will visit different sections of the country based on where the charity organizations will be helping. They will spend those weeks working with these different charities to help the people living in the areas. They do not have any specifics yet about what they will be doing but to generalize they will be helping better education, health and water safety, economics, and the empowerment of women. The entire trip will be a bit on the expensive side with a speculated cost of around five thousand a person but has been stated by Sheila Wood, Model UN team advisor, that it is well worth the cost.

“I don’t think there is anything better in terms of education than travel and especially this kind of travel… having the ability to see the world through another set of eyes. This is immensely important in bringing the kind of perspective one has to have in order to speak intelligently about world issues” Model UN Advisor Sheila Wood.

Plans for the specifics of the trip such as overall cost and living arrangements are still being worked out among the members. There will be a meeting on February 9th after school in room 1407 about the trip and give members a chance to work out these aspects of the trip. For any more information about what the trip will include, please contact club advisor Mrs. Wood or club president Ethan Liggett or check the club’s daily updated Facebook page.
