In the previous few years, going outside before its first game has been a rarity for the Gull Lake baseball team. This year, however, the team will practice outside for the first time on Tuesday. With its first game this coming Monday, going outside this week will give the team the proper preparation it needs to be game ready by Monday.

“I’m really excited to go outside,” senior Gabe Smith said. “Practicing in the gym for three weeks is what usually happens so it’s really nice to be able to get outside onto the field and get more comfortable. It really prepares us much better for our games too.”

Wearing its new practice jerseys, the baseball team will be able to get full use out of the field and the batting cages in its first outdoor practice. The team will be able to get two full weeks of practice and three games in before Spring break, when it will travel to Florida for a week of team bonding, training.
