‘Blue Oyster Cult’ headlines at the State Theatre

Blue Oyster Cult brought their national tour to the State Theatre in Kalamazoo on October 4. Doors opened at 6:30 p.m., and the show started at 7:30 p.m. with the opener Mark Farner, a man known for being the lead singer and lead guitarist for Grand Funk Railroad.

Blue Oyster Cult is an American rock band that formed in 1967. The band is most famous for their songs “(Don’t Fear) The Reaperand “Burnin’ for You.”  They have sold over 24 million albums worldwide.

Blue Oyster Cult’s song “(Don’t Fear) The Reaperwas performed on Saturday Night Live in 2000 as part of the infamous More Cowbell skit. The skit featured Christopher Walken Will Ferrell and Jimmy Fallon.

The Kalamazoo State Theatre just celebrated their 90th anniversary. Throughout the years they have routinely brought in people to perform like Pat Benatar and Jeff Daniels.
