Gull Lake cross country hosts SMAC Finals

On Saturday, October 21, the Gull Lake Cross Country team hosted the Southwestern Michigan Athletic Conference (SMAC) Championships at the Gilmore Car Museum. The length of the course was 5,000 meters, the normal distance for cross country.

The Devil’s competed against schools in our conference The boys finished with a score of 157, which was good enough for sixth place in the event. Freshman Koby Fraaza had the best time for Gull Lake with a 16 minute and 23 second run, earning him fourth place overall in the meet.
Senior Sam Christensen and junior Zach Zahrt were the next two to finish for the boys’ team. Christensen took 23rd, while Zahrt took 34th.

The girls finished with a score of 89, which earned them fourth place. The girls’ team was led by junior Mackenzie Wank, who finished fifth with a time of 19 minutes and 58 seconds. Sophomore Kayla Eklund had the next best time for the lady’s team finishing 11th with a time of 20 minutes and 23 seconds.
