Eagles struggles continue

The Kalamazoo Eagles came through a difficult two games of their schedule with one point this past week.

The Eagles tied Grand Rapids Northview on Wednesday 3-3, and lost a heartbreaker to Okemos, 4-3.

The tie against Grand Rapids Northview came from great offensive pressure and organized play from their defensemen.

The Kalamazoo Eagles now have a record of 3-15-1.

Despite the record, there were seven Eagles players selected to the annual Southwest Michigan High School Hockey League skills competition.

Senior Colin Mehren was the only Gull Lake student selected for this honor.

Other Eagles players selected include Jimmy Wressel from Paw Paw, Carter Maxi from Parchment, Steve Lockwood from Paw Paw, Zach Pernie from Gobles, Zach Blackwell from Kalamazoo Christian, and Houston Born from Plainwell.

The All-Star game was hosted Monday, January 22. Mehren managed to score twice in the shootout, giving his team the win.

The Eagles will face Portage Northern on Wednesday.
