After the widespread sickness closed down the Gull Lake schools on Friday, February 2, Gull Lake’s varsity basketball match up with the Wildcats from Mattawan was rescheduled for the following Monday. This forced the Blue Devils to have to play back to back games.

Coming into the game with Mattawan, the Blue Devils were 3-9 and looked to turn the second half of the season around.

Playing hard and keeping the game close, the Blue Devils had many chances to win the game but the 15 plus turnovers hurt the Devils to where they couldn’t come out on top in the end.

“The Mattawan game was really tough because we just did stupid things at times that kinda really hurt us,” senior guard Dominik Mastromatteo said.

The Blue Devils couldn’t dwell too long on the game as they had to turn around the next day and travel to Niles to take on the Vikings. Coming into this game off a fresh loss and looking for revenge, the Blue Devils played tough.

Starting the game off going back and forth, the Blue Devils were the first to hit their run. After going back and forth all game with momentum switches, the Blue Devils came out on top with a score of 61-58.

The Blue Devils now hold the record of 4-10 and travel to Battle Creek Central to take on the Bearcats on February 9. The Blue Devils won the first game of this matchup and look to have repeated success.
