Jive Junktion brings life back into antiques

Looking for an extensive mix of vintage, repurposed and jazzy junk? Jive Junktion is the shop for you.

Established in 2017, Jive Junktion is a funky little shop tucked away in downtown Galesburg. The shop is jam-packed with a variety of knick-knacks and gifts, ranging from old vinyl to retro clothes.

A majority of the goods being sold in Jive Junktion can be dated back to the 1940s to 1970s. The atmosphere in the shop is reminiscent of exploring grandpa’s attic and discovering presents under the tree on Christmas morning at the same time. The finds are nostalgic, humorous and are sure to make you feel like a kid in a candy store.

The eclectic and kitschy collection is assembled by the owner, Lori West.

“Growing up in a home that was filled with antiques led me to a love for all things vintage,” West said.

West is a Michigan native and has been a long-time collector of vintage goods, even before opening her shop.

“I have been decorating my home, and others, for years with colorful vintage furniture, glassware and collectibles. After selling my fabulous ‘picks’ in booths I have been blessed with the opportunity to open Jive Junktion,” West said.

Jive Junktion is open on Tuesdays from 5-7, Thursdays through Saturdays from 10-6, and on Saturday from 12-4. Click here to visit the Jive Junktion website.

About

I'm a senior at Gull Lake High School and this is my first year on The Reflection staff, so I guess you could call me a newspaper newbie. I joined the newspaper sort of on a whim because I wanted to put the skills I learned in Multimedia and Reporting to work, but I'm here to stay and enjoy the ride. I like to write feature articles because I love the facet of newspaper that is giving people an outlet to speak their minds.
