Mill Road Bridge and Flint needs our help

0 votes

The Flint Mill Road bridge will be  closed indefinitely because its deck and support beams have been declared unsafe; crossing the bridge would be very dangerous right now for citizens.

In early November 2018, the bridge was blocked off for repairs, but its closure wasn’t announced until two weeks later on November 13, 2018.

“I believe we could help, as a city, to donate whatever they need to help get the bridge back under control,” said GLHS senior Avery Eastman. “It’s only up to you if you are willing to help.”

Engineers and construction workers are trying their best to fix this bridge, which passes over the Flint River, to help the city of Flint, Michigan. However, it will take some time to fix the bridge’s structural issues. Unfortunately, right now, Flint is already facing a crisis,  because the city still doesn’t even have clean water; residents still have to use bottled water for their everyday life.

We, as a community, can help Flint, Michigan recover with donations of water for both drinking and bathing, but helping fix the Mill Road Bridge is a priority as well. We should also be visiting websites that are covering these problems in order to stay informed, because this has been going on for a long time and has yet to be resolved.

My name is Ravelle Johnson, I went to Albion Public Schools until 7th grade.  After Albion Public Schools was shut down, I  transferred to Marshall Middle School. I spent my 7th and 8th years there. My mother found a new job in Battle Creek, and we looked around for new schools.  Gull Lake offered the best education system and freshman year, I attended Gull Lake High School.
