Escape Room is a great movie about several players who are entered into an enclosed game arena. The twist is they are being timed, and before this clock runs out, and they must work together to decipher clues and solve a series of puzzles to earn back their freedom. It’s very heart-pumping to imagine being in these characters’ shoes and fighting for your freedom. It was about time that Hollywood adapted this fad into a horror movie.
In real life, if you fail to win this game or escape, the employee supervising the game tells you everything you missed. However, in this movie, several victims experience a more extreme version of their pastime and are put into killer puzzles created by a mysterious games master.
The story begins as a group of strangers from various walks of life each receive a note promising them $10,000 if they participate in the escape room challenge. This seem like a no-brainier, but there’s no telling what could go wrong. This was given to different types of people in the world with very distinct abilities; some are very smart, others are athletic and strong, and some are balanced in-between. This makes the game both fair and fun to watch.
This movie is very graphic with its character deaths, but it’s hard to turn your head away from the screen thanks to this movie’s unique intensity.
I recommend this movie for teens and up, if you can handle somewhat graphic deaths in movies, as well as scenes that will make your blood rush.
