Music should be allowed during work time

Some may say music during work time is a distraction, but I feel that most students prefer doing their work while listening to music. It helps a lot for me and my friends. I think listening to music during work time should be allowed if the student feels that it will help them finish their work.

While I think students shouldn’t listen to music when reading something because it is really hard for the student to remember anything they read while listening to something else, I understand why teachers don’t want students listening to music because some people misuse it. But just because there are two times where it’s not appropriate, doesn’t mean listening to music should be banned completely. Some do choose to not pay attention when a teacher is talking. But most others want it to help them finish their work. If the kid wants to choose to not do their work, it is their decision, and they will be behind. It isn’t fair to some students that sometimes they aren’t allowed to listen to music.

Music is a powerful thing. School can be very stressful, and it may be hard to concentrate sometimes because they are dealing with problems. According to study.com, “background music may improve focus on a task by providing motivation and improving mood. During long study sessions, music can aid endurance.” Music can help with the stress students are having and get their minds off it. It helps people focus and they can get your work done faster.

Overall, not everyone likes to listen to music while working but the people like me who do should be able to if they think it will benefit them. Personally, music has helped me a lot in my life, and I know it has helped others too.
