Karyn Furlong, the Athletic Director for Gull Lake Community Schools, has been working for Gull Lake for about four years. Being an Athletic Director takes a lot of work. Planning out games and times for different seasons of sports are just a few examples of Furlong’s responsibilities.

Besides being an Athletic Director, Furlong has coached volleyball for 20 years in the past at Gull Lake High School.

Furlong said she chose this job because she loves working with students, and she also loves working with sports.

“My favorite part is the interaction with the students and being able to give them an avenue of success outside of the classroom,” Furlong said.

One of the hardest parts of her job she said is making sure that all programs are working the way they should.

Another hard part of her job is working with different personalities of coaches, students, and families of students.

So far this school year, the major change she said has been a lot of construction in the area.

I am a sophomore at Gull Lake High School. I had been at Gull Lake since kindergarten, then I moved to Portage Central Middle School in seventh grade. I moved back to Gull Lake halfway through eighth grade. I play volleyball, and I have been playing for five years. I run track events, and I am trying out for basketball this year. I have only played basketball one year, and that was in 7th grade. I like to listen to music and hangout with friends and family.
