Spring is one of the best seasons to play sports because of the nice weather. Many kids have been waiting until the end of the year to play their spring sports like soccer, baseball, golf, softball, tennis and track and now have to wait another year for the next spring season sport.
Since there isn’t a way sports could come together anyway because of social distancing, it is best for everything to be cancelled as a way to stop the spread, but it’s an unfortunate time where we don’t get to finish off the school year and have our normal life.
My spring sport is track and not being able to participate in it this year is very sad. I feel that track is a sport I am good at, and I enjoy being a part of the team. I would say it is my favorite sport, and my friends and I were looking forward to it this year. We are disappointed that we have to miss it. Being a part of a sport feels good because it gives people an activity to do after school to stay fit and have fun. Exercise is very important and being forced to practice five out of the seven days for two hours keeps people healthy and active.
The way I get the best motivation to work out is from a coach or a friend, which I am not around at this time. Without them, I don’t have the determination to work out and be as healthy as I feel I should. When I am in a sport and surrounded with support, I feel better about myself, and it feels good to know I am doing good for myself.
Since spring sports are at the end of the year, a lot of athletes put time into working to prepare for their sport and be the best they can for it. To put in this effort only to not be part of that sport, is a disappointment. Friends i other sports worked hard in preparation, training so they can have a successful season. It is sad all of us have to wait to play our sport again.
Overall, discontinuing sports this season was understandable and the best for the world right now, but most miss playing their sport that they have waited for and enjoy playing. Sports can make someone feel good about themselves and help us stay active and participate in an activity so we have something to do.
